Sweet Reads Box is a Canadian subscription service for book lovers. Each month they deliver a thoughtfully curated box centered on a bestselling novel. Alongside the book you’ll receive complementary items chosen to enhance the reading experience.

Each box typically includes:

  • A note card explaining the book choice and how the included items connect to it.
  • One or two themed items that reflect the novel’s story, setting, or mood.
  • A tasty beverage to set the scene.
  • A sweet treat to enjoy while you read.

It’s a ready-made “me time” package delivered monthly.

Each note card features a famous quote that hints at the box’s theme. February’s card showcased a beautiful quote by Maya Angelou about love, setting the tone for the month’s selections.

The featured book this month is The Lonely Hearts Hotel. Here’s a brief description:

Set in Montreal and New York between the wars, this spellbinding novel follows two orphans whose remarkable talents and bond let them imagine a sensational future. Exquisitely imagined and hypnotically told, it’s a love story with the feel of legend: charismatic pianos, invisible dance partners, radicalized chorus girls, drug-addicted musicians, brooding clowns, and an underworld measured by the price of a kiss.

Two babies are abandoned in Montreal in 1914. Pierrot proves to be a piano prodigy while Rose dazzles with dance and comedy. As they perform across the city, they fall in love and dream of creating the most extraordinary circus show. Separated as teens, each sinks into the city’s underworld and must survive without the other. Montreal in the 1930s is unforgiving, but when they reunite their childhood dreams ignite again, and they’ll go to great lengths to make them real.

The February box included a salted caramel popcorn from the Toronto Popcorn Company — a delicious companion for reading.

Gourmet du Village hot chocolate and an adorable “I Love You More Than Chocolate” mug were also included, perfect for cozying up with the book.

“I Read Past My Bedtime” magnetic bookmark from Crafted Van — a fitting accessory for avid readers.

A gold dust face mask from Oh K! to add a little self-care, and a string of star lights from Indigo to create ambiance rounded out the box.

The curated items tied together beautifully. Each piece related to the book, and the navy and gold color scheme made the presentation feel cohesive and special. I also appreciate that many items were sourced from Canadian companies and that the author that month is Canadian — it’s great to see Sweet Reads Box supporting local businesses. When I discover a treat I love, like the Toronto Popcorn Company’s caramel popcorn, I know where to find it again.
