Creamy Green Smoothie Recipe for Energy and Vitality

So I don’t know if it’s because St. Patrick’s Day just passed or something else, but I’ve finally joined the green smoothie movement.

Confession: I used to avoid using my blender because I didn’t want to wash it. That was totally me.

What finally convinced me to stop being silly and actually blend was this awesome travel cup I received as a gift.

My best friend Jenny from high school gave it to me for Christmas, and I’m obsessed. I think my issue with smoothies before was that I never had straws — smoothies are just more fun with straws. I also prefer smoothies on the go, so having a handy cup solved both problems.

I’m actually kind of obsessed with green smoothies now. They’re an easy, delicious way to add a lot more greens to my diet.

I don’t like overly thick or complicated smoothies, so I keep mine simple and classic:

  • Half a ripe banana
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • Fresh baby spinach — pack in as much as you like (I use two large handfuls)

Just toss everything in the blender with a couple of ice cubes and blend until smooth. The banana and milk make it naturally sweet, and the spinach blends right in — you barely taste it. Delicious!
