This easy keto Philly cheesesteak skillet is a quick weeknight meal that comes together in about 30 minutes with roughly 2 net carbs. Family friendly and cooked in one pan for easy cleanup.
Ingredients
- 1 lb flank steak
- 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 5 white mushrooms, sliced
- 1/2 green bell pepper, diced
- 6 slices provolone cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Combine salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder in a small bowl and set aside.
- Thinly slice the flank steak across the grain about 1/8 inch thick.
- Heat olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the steak, sprinkle with the spice mixture, and allow it to sear without moving for 2–3 minutes.
- Turn heat to high and flip the steak every couple minutes until well cooked and slightly crispy, about 10 more minutes.
- Transfer the cooked steak to a plate, leaving the pan juices. Add the mushrooms and peppers to the skillet and cook about 3 minutes. (Skip this step for a carnivore version.)
- Remove the skillet from heat, return the steak to the pan and mix with the vegetables.
- Arrange the cheese slices over the skillet so the filling is covered.
- Place the skillet in the oven for about 5 minutes to melt the cheese.
- Optional: Broil 2–3 minutes to brown the top if desired.
