I brought that coastal feeling into my own kitchen. Toasted buttered buns hold the lobster salad — chopped lobster, crisp celery, sliced scallions, fresh dill, mayo, lemon juice and a pinch of Hot Old Bay for warmth. The result is creamy, bright and utterly satisfying. It tastes like vacation, looks impressive, and takes almost no time to make.

Ingredients for lobster rolls

Lobster roll recipe ingredients.
  • Cooked lobster meat – Sweet, tender and the star of the roll. Pre-cooked frozen lobster meat works well.
  • Celery – Finely diced for fresh crunch.
  • Mayo – Creates a creamy dressing that holds the salad together.
  • Scallions – Sliced, for a mild onion note.
  • Lemon juice – Adds bright acidity to cut the richness.
  • Hot Old Bay seasoning – For a classic, slightly spicy seafood flavor.
  • Fresh dill – Chopped, for a light herb accent.
  • Butter – For toasting the buns until golden.
  • Split-top hot dog buns – Traditional and ideal for holding the filling; brioche works if you want something richer.
