My book had been printed!
Yesterday Debs and I visited Cambrian Printers to watch The Permaculture Kitchen being bound. The staff were welcoming and patient, explaining each step and how the machines worked. Despite an early start to their day, their calm professionalism was impressive.
The interior pages were already printed and collated, and the covers were ready. I watched a complex stitching machine assemble the signatures so the book can lie flat. The publisher chose stitching rather than simple gluing to ensure the book stays durable in a busy kitchen.
After stitching, the covers and inner sections were collated and glued in a large finishing machine. Finished books emerged at the end of the line for final checks and packing.
Pallets of books are now en route from the printer to the publisher. The publisher will send me some copies and distribute the rest to Green Shopping, Amazon, and other retailers.
If you’d like a signed copy, visit The Permaculture Kitchensection of this site. PayPal is set up to accept orders; once the books arrive I will start posting them. That page also includes the full testimonials I’ve received from respected names in food.
I’ve added a resources sub-section for the book. As promised, there are videos to help with bread making, plus a demonstration of how to make mayonnaise using a stick blender. If you’d like any other recipes or techniques from the book explained or illustrated, leave a comment on the Resources page and I’ll try to add it.
I’ll be at the Edible Garden Show on Saturday to sign copies and give a talk. I’d love to see you there if you can make it.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported me through the process of getting this book published. I really appreciate your help and encouragement—this has been a wonderful adventure.
